NORMAN, Okla.-- The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department is seeking student managers for volunteer positions with its women's rowing, women's soccer, men's wrestling and women's gymnastics teams.
Each sport is in need of one student manager. Both male and female students are encouraged to apply.
To be considered, applicants must be enrolled at the University of Oklahoma for the fall 2008 semester and be in good academic standing. An interest in the sport is a plus.
Athletics managers provide a valuable service to coaches and student-athletes alike. The general duties include preparing for practices (setting up drills, film sessions, etc.) and coordinating equipment and apparel for competition.
The benefits include being paid and hourly wage, usually for 30 hours per week, and taking advantage of the services provided by the athletics student life department including career fairs, computer labs, study hall hours, early enrollment and tutoring sessions.
There is also a chance for managers to travel with the respective teams to competitions.
Managers at the University of Oklahoma earn a varsity letter after working for three years.
