NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma vice president for intercollegiate athletics programs and director of athletics Joe Castiglione and head coach Paul Lockwood announced the men's tennis schedule for the 2008 fall season Monday. "I think it's another outstanding fall schedule for our program, and we will see probably the best 300 players in Division I tennis at these tournaments," Lockwood said. OU will start the fall season as they did last year, making an appearance at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md., Sept. 12. The Sooners will then return to the South as they make a trip to Waco, Texas, for the HEB Baylor Intercollegiate Sept. 26-28. Five days later, Oklahoma begins the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-American tournament with the pre-qualifying round Oct. 3-5. The ITA All-American will then continue with the qualifying round Oct. 6-8 and the championship round Oct. 9-12. All of those matches will take place in Tulsa. Following the ITA All-American there are two competitions on the schedule. Selected student-athletes will travel to the ITA Central Regional Championships, which will take place in Fayetteville, Ark., Oct. 17-20 while others will be making a stop in Mansfield, Texas, to participate in the Mansfield Futures 27 from Oct. 18-25. OU will complete its fall schedule Nov. 6-9 in Charlottesville, Va., at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships. Check SoonerSports.com for updates as each tournament approaches.
