NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma women's golfer Kelly Jacques has received yet another academic accolade. The senior health and exercise science major from Longmont, Colo., was named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Women's At-Large second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

"It's awesome," Jacques said of being named to the team. "It's one of the biggest honors I can receive, being an academic achievement. Every student-athlete struggles with time management, and it's nice to be able to maintain a high GPA and finish the semester with an honor like that."

Jacques was also named First Team Academic All-Big 12 this season after holding a 3.40 GPA for the 2007 school year, the third time in three years that she achieved the conference honor. She also earned a spot on the NGCA All-American Scholar Golf Team in 2005 and 2006.

Jacques had a memorable senior season, a season in which she led the Sooners to their first NCAA Regional Championships appearance since 2004. She finished in the top 15 in eight of OU's 11 tournaments, including three top 10s and a top five. The Sooners, who hadn't won a tournament since 2004, had three tournament championships in 2007-08 with the help of Jacques. She finished in the top 10 in each of OU's three victories.

The No. 4 player on Oklahoma's all-time stroke average list with a 76.93 career mark, Jacques completed her Sooner career with 20 top-20 finishes, 10 top 10s and three top fives. She played 120 rounds at OU, missing only one tournament out of 42 during her four-year career.

The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District at-large team is made up of student-athletes from all NCAA sports except football, men's and women basketball, baseball, softball and men's and women's track. Those sports have their own Academic All-America teams in the CoSIDA program.

Nominated by members of CoSIDA, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic eligibility, be a starter or key reserve and have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average to be considered for the team. True freshmen, redshirt freshmen and transfer students who are in their first year at the institution are not eligible for the team.
