Women's Tennis Hosts ISU Friday

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team (8-7, 1-3) returns to Norman for a two dual weekend. The Sooners will open Friday, April 4, playing host to Iowa State University at the Headington Family Tennis Center. The first serve is set for 5 p.m.

OU will also host Nebraska on Sunday, April 6 at 10 a.m.

"We are really looking forward to playing at home again," OU head coach Mark Johnson said.

The Sooners return home after being on the road for the last four matches, including a trip to Big 12 foes Kansas and Kansas State.

Iowa State enters Friday's matchup looking for its first Big 12 win of the season. The cyclones are 4-8 on the season and 0-5 in the Big 12.
Oklahoma last played ISU, April 6, 2007 in Ames, Iowa, where OU claimed a 6-1 victory.

"The Cyclones are a good team," Johnson said. "They have struggled in Big 12 play this season, but they are not a team to take lightly. They have a lot of talent."

The men's team will also take the courts Friday, it takes on Texas Tech University, at 5 p.m.

Friday's duals include a signing session at the conclusion of the matches, as well as $.50 hot dogs and soft drinks.

The student organization with the most fans in attendance will win $300 for their group. Also, one lucky individual will be selected for a $100 cash prize. Fans must arrive by 5:15 to be eligible for cash prizes and must be present for the announcement of the winners, which will directly follow the last match.

Gift certificates from Louie's, Classic 50s, Rusty's Frozen Custard, Raising Canes Chicken, Maggie Moos Ice cream and Which-Wich Sandwiches will also be given away throughout the match.

Nebraska comes to Norman after losing two straight last weekend in Texas. The Huskers fell 7-0 to No. 32 Texas A&M and 6-1 to No. 17 Texas. The two losses dropped NU to 13-3 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.

The teams last met on, April 7, 2007, with Nebraska taking a 4-3 win. However, OU owns a 20-9 series record.

"Nebraska always has a strong team and that hasn't changed this year," Johnson said. "It will be a good match. We will have to come out and play hard."

All fans in attendance Sunday will receive free donuts and OU visors.
