NORMAN, Okla. - Gaining its first NCAA bid since 2004, the Oklahoma women's golf team will head to Lincoln, Calif., for the 2008 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship West Regional, the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee announced today. OU will be the No. 14 seed at Lincoln Hills Golf Club May 8-10. The West Regional will be hosted by Sacramento State University.

"We are very excited and ready to go," OU head coach Carol Ludvigson said. "I think it will be good to see a different course and different schools. We will spend this week chipping and putting."

The other two sites are the East Regional in Athens, Ga., and the Central Regional in Austin, Texas. The three regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the NCAA Championships field. Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA Championships competition.

A total of 324 individual participants have been selected for regional competition. Of these players, 126 will advance to the championships finals. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional.

The championships finals will be held May 20-23 at the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M.
