NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma women's golfers Kendall Dye, Kelly Jacques and Sydney Lee were named to the 2008 Academic All-Big 12 first team, the league office announced today. The trio was among 36 first-team selections and 42 overall.

"It is always a great honor to have our student-athletes named to this team," OU head coach Carol Ludvigson said. "I am proud of these young ladies because this is truly what it means to be a student-athlete. It is very difficult to maintain high grades with the amount of travel these players do throughout the year, but that just shows how committed and conscientious they are in all of their goals, be it athletic or academic. They are great ambassadors for our program and the University of Oklahoma."

Jacques, a health and exercise science senior from Longmont, Colo., earned her third Academic All-Big 12 honor in three years, making it a clean sweep for her career. She is second in Oklahoma history with a 76.86 career scoring average, and has finished in the top 12 in seven of the Sooners' nine tournaments this season.

Dye's selection marks the second time in two years she has been named to the all-academic team. A junior communication major from Edmond, Okla., she picked up the first victory of her career and the first OU medalist honor since 2004 with her win at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic April 6-7.

It was Lee's first time to named Academic All-Big 12. The senior health and exercise science major from Houston, Texas, played in her final tournament for the Sooners at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic.
