Weather Cancels Ohio State Meet

NORMAN, Okla. - Due to winter storm conditions affecting travel arrangements, the third-ranked Oklahoma men's gymnastics team's Saturday night meet with No. 7 Ohio State has been cancelled.

The Sooners and Buckeyes were scheduled to compete tomorrow, March 8, at 6 p.m. (CST) at the St. John Arena on the Ohio State campus.

Saturday's forecast for the greater Columbus area calls for heavy snow and wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph, creating blizzard conditions.  Six to 10 inches of snow is expected by Saturday night.

Oklahoma will return to action on Saturday, March 15, as the Sooners host No. 8 Minnesota at the Howard McCasland Field House in Norman.  The meet will be OU's 2008 home finale and will mark Senior Night for Taqiy Abdullah-Simmons and Jonathan Horton.

The senior co-captains have accounted for 24 career All-America honors and six individual national titles, including the 2006 and 2007 NCAA all-around titles, in their four seasons in Norman.  The duo were also a part of OU's back-to-back national championship teams in 2005 and 2006.

Tickets for next weekend's matchup with the Golden Gophers will be available Saturday night in the South lobby of the Field House or by calling the OU Ticket Office at (405) 325-2424, or toll free at (800) 456-GoOU.  General admission tickets are $7 and $5 for youth.  Admission to the event is free to OU students with a valid student ID.
