NORMAN, Okla. -- The Sooners dropped game two of the series against Washington State on Saturday, 4-3. The contest was the first of two scheduled for Saturday at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
The Cougars took an early lead, similar to Friday's beginning, plating four runs in the first two innings off OU starter Mark Guest (0-1). Guest took the loss after allowing four runs off six hits in two innings.
Guest was relieved by freshman Ryan Duke, who was stellar in relief. Duke did not allow a run and limited Washington State to five hits. The right-hander also struck out three batters over seven innings.
However, just like Friday's series opener, OU was unable to get back in the game after the early deficit.
In the Sooners' sixth, freshmen Casey Johnson and Tyson Seng drove in runs and junior Trey Sperring added an RBI double.
Washington State holds a 2-0 series lead and the game two of the doubleheader began at 5:35 p.m. in Norman.
The series finale is slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
