NORMAN, Okla. -- The OU baseball team improved to 11-0 in midweek games this season with an 8-4 victory over Dallas Baptist on Tuesday afternoon at L. Dale Mitchell Park.  J.T. Wise drove in three runs off his fifth home run of the season and starter C.J. Blue improved to 6-0 with seven innings of work.

The win marked the fourth in the last five games for Oklahoma and upped the Sooners' overall record to 21-8-1.  The Sooners also defeated Dallas Baptist (16-9) earlier this season, 3-1, on March 11 and have won each of the last four meetings with the Patriots.

Oklahoma broke open the game, which was tied at one heading into the bottom of the fourth, with six runs in its half of the frame, highlighted by Wise's homer.

"The fourth inning was huge today and of course C.J. Blue was big," said OU head coach Sunny Golloway.

The Sooners took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on Jamie Johnson's single to center field, plating Mike Gosse who singled to lead off the game.  Gosse extended his hitting streak to 16 games, a team best, and has led off a game with a hit in 12 of his 22 games in the leadoff spot.

In the top half of the fourth inning, the Patriots managed their only run of the game off Blue as Trevor Head doubled in Nick Santos to tie the game at one.

But that was as close as Dallas Baptist got to Blue and the Sooners.  The Sooners allowed the one run on seven hits and zero walks and struck out four batters.  Blue, who entered Tuesday's start tied for sixth in the country in victories, retired five straight batters from the end of the second inning into the fourth and received some help from his defense which turned three double plays on the day.

Blue received the run support he was looking for in the Sooners' half of the fourth with six runs on four hits.  Trey Sperring started the scoring with a sacrifice fly and Matt Harughty scored on a wild pitch to give OU a 3-1 lead.

Later in the fourth, Aljay Davis' RBI single gave the Sooners a three-run advantage and chased DBU starter Ryan Millard (3-1) out of the game after 3 2/3 innings.  Millard was handed his first loss of the season after allowing six runs on seven hits and three walks.

J.T. Wise greeted reliever Wayne Dowling in the bottom of the fourth with his hard-hit ball over the left-field fence to extend the Sooners lead to six runs.

Aaron Baker added extra insurance in the fifth with a sacrifice fly to score Jamie Johnson.  Johnson has been hot as of last, hitting safely and driving in a run in each of the last four games.  The sophomore also swiped his team-leading 11th base on Tuesday to put himself into position to score from third and has nine hits and four RBIs in the last four games.

The Patriots did make things interesting in the eighth inning with three runs off Ryan Mottern and placed the tying run in the on-deck circle in the ninth before Jake McCarter earned his Big 12 leading eighth save of the season.

The Sooners conclude the current eight-game home stand this weekend when No. 14 Texas visits L. Dale Mitchell Park.  The Sooners and Longhorns begin the Red River Rivalry in Norman on Friday, April 4 at 6:38 p.m.  The series opener will be televised live on Cox Channel 2 in Oklahoma City and Cox Channel 78 in Tulsa.

The Series continues on Saturday with game two, slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch and the finale is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
