FRISCO, Texas -- The No. 25 Sooners (13-2)extended their winning streak to 10 games with a 3-1 victory over Dallas Baptist (9-4) on Tuesday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas.

OU received a two-run single by junior J.T Wise in the first inning and rode the seven-inning performance of sophomore Andrew Doyle, who improved to 3-1, for the win.

Wise put OU ahead 2-0 early with his single ripped through the left side of the infield, plating Aljay Davis and Aaron Baker.

In the top of the second, sophomore Jamie Johnson led off the frame with a home run to left field. The long ball, Johnson's first of the year, put OU ahead 3-1. Johnson finished the night with a game-high two hits.

After four scoreless innings, DBU got to OU starter Andrew Doyle, but for only one run. The sophomore limited the Patriots to three hits in the first four frames but surrendered back-to-back singles in the fifth and DBU's first run.

The Sooners' offense was slowed after the offensive surge last week at home, but the three runs off six hits was enough to hand Victor Black (0-2) his second loss of the year. Black lasted 5 1/3 innings and surrendered three runs, two earned, off three hits and two walks.

"We got just enough runs and hits tonight and got the pitching and defense we needed," said OU head coach Sunny Golloway. "Dallas Baptist is a good club and a game like this proves to our young team that pitching and defense wins ball games."

Doyle finished the game with seven innings of five-hit ball. The right-hander struck out four batters and gave up one run and three walks.

"I give all the guys behind me the credit," said Doyle. "I just wanted to go in there and throw strikes and let my defense do the work tonight."

Doyle gave way to the OU bullpen in the eighth, where sophomore Jeremy Erben pitched a scoreless frame before Jake McCarter pitched the ninth to record his fifth save.

The Sooners will return to action on Wednesday against Northern Illinois. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Following Wednesday's mid week game, OU returns home to host Washington State in the final non-conference series of the home schedule. The Sooners and Cougars will begin the four-game set on Friday, March 14 at 6:35 p.m.
