NORMAN, Okla. - Following his third-consecutive Pacific Coast Classic all-around title on Saturday, Oklahoma senior Jonathan Horton was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week for Feb. 25. The award is Horton's second in three weeks after also claiming the honor on Feb. 11 for his performance at the Winter Cup.
Competing in the all-around for the first time this season, Horton's 91.150 total at the PCC outpaced California's Tim McNeill (88.500) and Kyson Bunthuwong (86.900). Horton also claimed the Pacific Coast vault title, recording a personal-best 16.200 on the event. The senior co-captain also placed second on rings (15.950) and fourth on pommel horse (14.750) in addition to top-10 finishes on floor (15.100, T8th) and high bar (14.550, 10th).
Horton's score in the all-around and on pommel horse and rings established personal bests and OU program records. His winning vault score helped propel the Sooners to a 63.900 vault total, besting their own NCAA-best mark set Feb. 16 at Iowa. Horton and Oklahoma also recorded team season-highs on horse (56.850) and rings (62.000) en route to posting the squad's highest team total of the year (359.800).
