FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Marcus Pugh recorded Oklahoma's most impressive finish in the first day of competition at the 2008 Tyson Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Complex.
Facing some of the nation's top sprinters, Pugh finished fifth in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 6.70.
Pugh advanced to the finals as the seventh seed after recording a time of 6.74 in the prelims. The senior sprinter entered the weekend ranked fifth nationally in the event with a top time of 6.64.
Sheldon Leith and Latoya Greaves both qualified for Saturday's consolation finals in the 60-meter hurdles in their respective divisions. Greaves' NCAA provisional qualifying time of 8.37 was 13th in the women's 84-athlete preliminary field. Leith was 10th in the men's division with a time of 7.99.

Jacob Boone finished seventh in the championship mile with a time of 4:06.98, the sixth fastest indoor mile mark in Oklahoma history.
Saturday's action at the Tyson Invitational begins at 10 a.m. The event, hosted by the University of Arkansas, features some of the nation's top collegiate athletes at the site of the 2008 NCAA Indoor National Championships.
