TULSA, Okla. – University of Oklahoma senior Sergey Avdeyev was unable to advance to the main singles draw at the ITA All-American on Wednesday. ITA No. 50 Lucas Jovita of South Florida defeated Avdeyev in three sets, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1.
With the loss, Avdeyev falls to 2-1 for the fall and exits the ITA All-American one win short of joining teammate Andrei Daescu in the main draw.
Daescu, the only Sooner in competition on Thursday, will square off with Bradley Klahn of Stanford at 9:30 a.m. at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The match will mark Daescu's first singles collegiate match this fall. Daescu's last appearance was in the ATP sanctioned Costa Mesa Pro Futures tournament, where he went 4-1.
