NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team returns to action Wednesday evening against second-ranked Nebraska. The sold out contest between the Sooners (7-8, 3-4 Big 12) and the Cornhuskers (15-0, 6-0 Big 12) is set to begin at 7 p.m. CT from Nebraska Coliseum in Lincoln. The match will air on ESPNU with Justin Kutcher and Cathy Nelson calling the action for the network.
OU took the opening set from the third-ranked Texas Longhorns but fell, 3-1, on Oct. 1, in front of 1,356 fans, the fourth largest crowd all-time at McCasland Field House. The Sooners fell to the Iowa State Cyclones 3-0 on Saturday evening at the Hilton Coliseum in Ames. Against Texas, freshman setter Brianne Barker tied her season-high with seven kills and led the team with a .438 hitting percentage. Barker recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 33 assists and 11 digs. At Iowa State, freshman Suzy Boulavsky netted six kills to lead OU with a .278 hitting percentage.
Nebraksa, the nation's second ranked team, has not dropped a match all season and have only lost five sets all year. Of those five sets, three opponents were ranked in the top 10. Undefeated on the year, Nebraska is led by Jordan Larson (3.72 kps) and Sydney Anderson (11.44 aps).
The Sooners return home Saturday to face Kansas State in a 7 p.m. contest from McCasland Field House. Saturday's game is elementary school and military appreciation night. The first 250 fans in attendance receive an OU volleyball megaphone. The team will sign autographs after the match.
