OU Golf Leads Macdonald Cup

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf squad holds a one stroke lead through two rounds of the 54-hole Macdonald Cup in New Haven, Conn. The Sooners fired rounds of 283 (+3) and 288 (+8) on Saturday, standing one shot ahead of Sacred Heart University.
OU was led by the duo of Liam Logan and Riley Pumphrey at the par-70 Course at Yale. The pair both stand tied for third at even par. Logan rebounded from a tournament-opening 73 with a second-round 67 (-3), while Pumphrey got off to a fast start with a career-low, 5-under-par 65 on Saturday morning and followed up the tournament-low round with a 75 during afternoon play.
Chris Wilson (71-74) stands 15th in his collegiate debut at +5, while Eric Durbin (T26th) carded consecutive rounds of 74 on Saturday in his season debut.
Rounding out the OU team scoring was Cameron Meyers who shot rounds of 78 and 73, standing 40th with 18 holes to play.
"I am happy to see our team get into position where we have a chance to win," said head coach Jim Ragan. "We have a very young team and are gaining experience and most importantly confidence with each round. We have some talented players on our roster and they will continue to get better as the season goes along."

Ragan also singled out OU's underclassmen pair that stood third through two rounds.
"I was happy with Riley and Liam each posting a score well under-par and we are all looking forward to the final round."
Erik Downs of Flagler University holds a three-stroke lead in the medalist race after scores of 67 and 69.
