AMES, Iowa - The University of Oklahoma women's volleyball team fell to the Iowa State Cyclones 3-0 on Saturday evening at the Hilton Coliseum. The Sooners (7-8, 3-4 Big 12) dropped to 0-3 on the year when losing the first two games. The Cyclones (10-7, 2-4 Big 12) swept a team for the eighth time this year.
Junior Bridget Laplante led the way for the Sooners with 12 digs while freshman Caitlin Higgins led the team in kills with eight. The Cyclones held the Sooners to their second lowest hitting percentage of the season at .086. Freshman setter Brianne Barker led the Sooners with 25 assists. Barker came up four digs short of her ninth double-double of the season. Redshirt sophomore Francie Ekwerekwu moved into seventh place in Oklahoma history for kills. With her five on the evening, she now has 474 career kills.
Freshman Suzy Boulavsky netted six kills to lead OU with a .278 hitting percentage. Barker hit a .250 clip on the evening. Sophomore Chrissy Disarro matched her career high with six block assists on the evening.
The Cyclones had four players tally nine or more kills, led by Victoria Henson's 13. Kaylee Manns added 43 helpers as the Iowa State hit .396 in the match.
The Sooners return to action Wednesday evening against Nebraska in a 7 p.m. CT contest from Lincoln. The match is scheduled to air nationally on ESPNU.
