NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team returns to Oklahoma for its-first instate competition of the season against Fresno State, Friday, Jan. 25 at 4 p.m. The match will take place at Willow Creek Country Club in Oklahoma City.
"It is exciting to play our first match in our home state," head coach Paul Lockwood said. "Even though it is not our home court we are still anxious to play in front of our fans and give them something to look forward to."
Last weekend the Sooners traveled to Wichita, Kan., and competed in the Shocker Invitational. OU picked up nine singles victories and five doubles victories. It was the first action for freshmen Ionut Beleleu, Alex Joitoiu and Vlad Marinescu.
"This will be the first experience for our freshmen playing in a team competition and I look forward to what these three young players will bring to our team" Lockwood continued.
The Sooners are ranked No. 34 in the ITA rankings while Fresno State comes in at No. 69.
The Sooners next travel to Norfolk, Va., where they will face Old Dominion and Virginia Commonwealth on Saturday, Feb. 2 and Sunday Feb. 3.
