OKLAHOMA HEAD COACH BOB STOOPS
On his impression of team after the second game:
"The season is still young. This is what I hoped
for, this is how we expected to play. The team just
fought through the fourth quarter, I thought our conditiong
was excellent, as a matter of fact that was the first
game ball I gave (Coach Schmidt and the entire strength
staff). We had hardly any cramping, even with the weather
as hot and muggy as it was. The guys just competed
really well."
On the score being the most Miami points allowed
in 17 years:
"I don't look into that. I mean that last
score we actually had a run called, but since they
loaded the box, we changed it at the line. Joey was
just looking to get the first down, and they brought
the house, so Adron only had one man to beat."
On junior WR Malcolm Kelly and redshirt freshman
QB Sam Bradford:
"Malcolm is a tremendous player, I don't
need o keep saying that. Sam was excellent. He was
able to stand in there and take some shots while still
delivering the ball to Malcolm."
On the kicking game:
"I felt good with our returns overall. There were
fewere penalties in the kicking game and Garrett (Hartley)
did great kicking the ball deep."
On OU- Miami (Fla.) rivalry:
"The only time I mentioned it was on Monday, and
that was out of respect for the great players and coachs
who were a part of that rivalry. It is worth mentioning.
The rest of the week those guys were rolling their
eyes because most of them weren't even born yet.
That didn't matter. It might make a good story,
but that was a long time ago."
On if senior RB Allen Patrick was injured:
"He just had some very minor cramping. He didn't
re-injure himself at all. That is a positive -- when
you can throw all of these other guys in there and
still get production out of the running game."
On redshirt freshman QB Sam Bradford:
"He was excellent. The offensive line in front
of him was also great. They allowed him the time to
find the open guys and hit them. I think Coach Wilson
and our offensive staff really had a great game plan
as well. Sam was solid again and he had a great calmness
to him."
On using seven different player in the first eight
plays:
"It wasn't scripted, but it just happened.
We like to use all of the field and all of our players.
It's never been our style just to go to one guy
-- that's just not the way we do things. We like
the defense to have to deal with everyone. We feel
good about all of our quality players at every position.
We don't feel like we have to go to only one
guy. We are looking to spread the ball around and to
take what is there."

OKLAHOMA DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR BRENT VENABLES
On the game:
“I'm proud of the way our guys came out
early. Just as we anticipated, they came out and did
some things that were not on tape. The guys really
didn't panic.”
On the play of the defense:
“They played sound football using the technique
of the system. It really took a special focus for those
guys not to panic and to play sound. They did that,
which really takes a special level of maturity and
understanding of the system.”

OKLAHOMA OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR KEVIN WILSON
On the turnovers:
“The one thing that is disappointing is the fumbles.
We have talked about that extensively, aggressively,
positively. In two games we have had three fumbles
when we go out looking for zero. That is an issue that
needs to clean up.”
On the play of Sam Bradford:
“Very mature, very level-headed. I thought the
biggest play he made all game was the touchdown to
Zaslaw. We were running an over-the-top route to Malcolm
Kelly. The safety was high, and here is a freshman
that says I'm not going to force it to my best
receiver. Our fullback was wide open and he makes the
play. For a young kid that's great to see. A
lot of young guys would have locked on to that 'I'm
throwing it to my guy.”

OKLAHOMA REDSHIRT FRESHMAN QB SAM BRADFORD
On the game:
"Coming in we knew that if we ran the offense
the way we are capable of, we were going to move the
ball. Each day we're all becoming more comfortable
in the system, which was shown today."
On the play of the offensive line:
"They were unreal. I hardly got touched out there.
Those guys did an amazing job. Their excellent play
got the run game going which then set up the pass game."
On Miami cutting the score to 21-13:
"It really wasn't a concern. I just knew
that we had to come out on fire those first few drives."
On the play of the tight ends:
"We are so deep at the tight end position which
provides another option for our offense. They did a
great job of getting open today."

OKLAHOMA JUNIOR OL DUKE ROBINSON
On the game:
"We keep getting better every week, which is exciting.
Coach Stoops and the staff did a great job of pumping
us up to play. We went hard every play."
On the play of the line:
"They've got good athletes, we've
got good athletes. There's no reason why we shouldn't
be able to go out there and handle business and play
Oklahoma football. We take pride in physical play.
Play smart, play physical and play with emotion. If
we stay focused we know it will turn out good."

OKLAHOMA JUNIIOR DB NIC HARRIS
On the play of the defense:
"We knew we had to come out and take their run
game away. We felt that we could have success if we
made them one-dimensional."
On the game:
"It goes back to our preparation. We came in well-prepared
and conditioned. It goes all the way back to our hard
work all summer leading up to the season and our weekly
game prep."

OKLAHOMA JUNIOR WR MALCOLM KELLY
On the game:
"It feels good to have success against a quality
opponent. We felt like coming into the game we were
well prepared, which showed."
On the offensive preparation:
"Coach Wilson and the rest of the staff put together
a great game plan. We felt confident in our preparations
and just needed to go out and execute to pick up the
win."

OKLAHOMA SENIOR DE ALONZO DOTSON
On what Coach Stoops told them before the game:
“Coach just told us to keep pushing through and
keep playing hard and follow through on how we've
been playing.”
On Miami's first field goal:
“It was really big to come back and stop them
and not let them in our end zone, we just stepped up
to the challenge. Then forcing them to punt, it just
stopped their momentum, killed it right there so they
didn't have any to build off of it.”
On what the win says about the team:
“Coach always tells us not to beat our chests.
We just want to win a game like we did last week and
be better than we were last week. Being able to step
up again against a better team says a lot about us
being able to push through.”

OKLAHOMA SOPHOMORE LB RYAN REYNOLDS
On Miami scoring after holding them at the goal line:
“It's always a letdown when you let them
score. But, just the fact that we held them as long
as we did is a real positive for the win.”
On what the win says about the defense:
“We're tough, I don't know about
anybody else and I don't know if we have the
best defense in the country but we definitely have
one of the hardest working defenses in the country.
Just in the way we prepare for the game and it shows
when we play.”

OKLAHOMA SENIOR DB D.J. WOLFE
On what the win says about the team:
“I think it says that we're a team to beat.
You can't take anything away from Miami, they
played a good game. As a team, I think if we keep playing
the way we're playing I think that the sky is
the limit.”
On playing against a team with such rich tradition:
“It made us feel great. Going out there, Coach
Venables made some great calls and it was up to us
to play to the level that we are playing and the potential
that we can be.”

MIAMI HEAD COACH RANDY SHANNON
On Miami's overall performance today:
“Today wasn't a very good day for the University
of Miami. The guys have to understand that when you
come up to an opponent like the University of Oklahoma
they are a very great team, and have a lot of talent,
just like we have a lot of talent. When you have penalties
like we had today and we don't communicate and
don't do the things that coaches teach us to
do, we won't be successful.”
“There are things that have to get corrected and have to get done, and we will get them done. Coach Stoops and his staff have done a wonderful job and they did a wonderful thing today.”
On what Miami's keys to the games were:
“Today before the game I said if we can win the
field position game, we have a great shot. If we don't
give up a big play in the first quarter, we have a
great shot. If we can keep the crowd out of it, we
have a great shot. First quarter, too many big plays,
and the next thing you know the crowd is into it and
the momentum swings. But we came back and fought back,
the offense got going in the second quarter late and
going into halftime we scored a touchdown. We had a
shot, but we came back out in the second half and lost
field position. There were too many big plays on defense
and you can't win games when you give up big
plays.”
On any surprises from Oklahoma:
“No, that's the thing that's upsetting.
Things that we practice are the exact same things that
we run in practice. That comes guys having to trust
what we're doing in practice and trust what we're
doing on the field. That's a learning point.
I have too much pride and think these players have
too much pride. They didn't quit and they kept
fighting, but there were too many big plays. When you
give up too many big plays you can't be successful
that way.”
On Sam Bradford's performance:
“He did a great job. He got the ball where it
was supposed to be and the coaching staff did a great
job of calling the plays. Hats off to him.”
