NORMAN, Okla. -- The Sooners opened their first practice in full pads
Monday evening with a familiar tradition under Coach
Stoops.
Players lined up in chutes and went one-on-one in
the famed "Oklahoma Drill". Wide
receivers matched up against defensive backs, offensive
linemen took on defensive lineman, and fullbacks
faced off against linebackers while running backs
were forced to hit a hole and make contact with a defender.
Developed by legendary coach Bud Wilkinson, the Oklahoma
Drill has become a tradition not only at OU,
but at football practices across the country from high
school to the pros.
The Sooners
put it on display Monday with
tremendous intensity at the rugby practice field. View
highlights, including a punishing blow by redshirt
freshman DeMarco Murray, by clicking on the video links

OU hits the fields twice on Tuesday in the first
installment of two-a-days. The morning practice is
scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with the evening practice
scheduled for 6 p.m.
