NORMAN, Okla. -- Any one of the 16 Sooner head coaches will tell you the
biggest key to building a successful program is recruiting
the best athletes to fill the roster.
A number of elements go into selling a recruit on a
program, but the two most important aspects are undoubtedly
a history of success and quality facilities. The University
of Oklahoma is lucky enough to thrive in both areas,
boasting one of the nation's most successful athletic
departments across the board while providing its student-athletes
with the most state-of-the-art facilities in the country.
Maintaining these standards requires constant renovation, and
within the last couple years one facility which
has seen major upgrades is the
OU Soccer Complex and John Crain Field. A $4.5 million
renovation completed in 2006 now provides the Sooner
soccer team with one of the premier stadiums in the
Big 12 Conference.

coach Randy Evans recently

Evans is confident the facility upgrades will
help the program reach new heights sooner rather than
later. In fact, the dividends are already starting
to pay off, as the 2007 squad features what the coaching
staff has tabbed as the most talented freshmen class
ever to arrive in Norman.
The Sooners open the 2007 season at John Crain Field
on Friday, Aug. 31 against Alabama A&M. Opening kick
is slated for 7:30 p.m. The first 250 fans through
the gates will receive a free soccer schedule T-shirt.
