NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma's Jonathan Horton finished sixth at the 2007 Visa U.S. Championships late Friday in San Jose, Calif.  The Houston, Texas, native finished with a two-day total of 177.00, earning a spot on the U.S. Senior National Team.

Scores from both days of competition were combined to produce the final overall standings.

David Durante claimed the title of U.S. all-around champion with a score of 179.300.  Defending champion Alexander Artemev finished fourth after posting a 178.05.  Horton was the runner-up to Artemev at the 2006 Visa Championships.

In the individual event rankings Horton was fourth on the parallel bars (30.500) and still rings (31.050) and finished sixth on floor (30.150) after winning the event last year.

Horton's status on the 2007 U.S. World Championships Team remains to be determined.  USA Gymnastics will announce the World team in the coming days.   Horton did finish third in the points system that combines scores from the Visa Championships, as well as the U.S. Qualifier that took place June 9 in Colorado Springs, Colo.  Horton finished second in the all-around at that event, tying for first place on the floor exercise and recording top-five finishes on rings (third), vault (fourth), and pommel horse (fourth).

Final Results | Commentary

"In terms of the overall process Jon is still in the mix to make the World team," said OU head coach Mark Williams.  "This was kind of a disappointing competition for him because of some unexpected mistakes, but he's still done enough to put himself in position to possibly make it to the World Championships."

OU freshman Steven Legendre and former Sooner Jamie Henderson also competed in Friday night's finals, finishing 19th and 24th, respectively, in the all-around.
