IRVING, Texas Oklahoma's Shardae Boutte was named the Big 12 Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week by the conference office Tuesday.
Boutte bounded 52 feet, 1.75 inches (15.89 meters) to set a personal best in the triple jump at the Arkansas Twilight Friday, May 4. He placed fourth overall behind Estonia's Jaanus Uudmae, University of Arkansas' Nkosinza Balumbu, and Dominica's Fabian Florent
Only one other Sooner all-time, Jerome Douglas (1997), has recorded a triple jump mark further than Boutte's.
The El Paso, Texas, native, who ranks No. 9 nationally and No. 3 in the Big 12, will be one of the favorites in the event at this weekend's Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Lincoln, Neb.
Kansas' Ashley Brown was the women's honoree after setting the school record in the 100-meter hurdles at 13.31 seconds.
