The Sooner men won their first Big 12 title Sunday, May 13, at the University of Nebraska's Ed Weir Stadium in Lincoln, scoring a program-record 110.5 points to knock off Texas Tech (100) and Texas (96).  The OU women matched their program best finish of sixth.

Bookout (shot put), Boutte (triple jump) and Pugh (100-meter dash) earned individual event titles for the men and OU freshman Scottesha Miller captured the women's long jump title.

All-Big 12 honors went to 16 Sooner men and 11 OU women.

The Sooners made an unprecedented leap to the top of the Big 12 in just two years under head coach Martin Smith, who was part of his 25th conference championship in 28 years of coaching on the Division I level.  Prior to Smith's arrival, OU averaged a seventh-place finish, including finishing 10th in 2005.  A then-program best finish of fifth in 2006 was a precursor to the 2007 team championship.
