Buffalo Picks Ah You

NORMAN, Okla. -- Buffalo drafted Oklahoma defensive end C.J. Ah You in the seventh and final round of the 2007 NFL Draft.  Adrian Peterson and Rufus Alexander preceded Ah You in the draft and both went to the Minnesota Vikings.

Ah You was a two-year starter for the Sooners after transferring from Snow Junior College.

Not since 1984 had the Bills taken an Oklahoma player.  That year it was defensive back Dwight Drane in the first round and the 14th pick overall.

"Just like we were for Adrian and Rufus we're proud and happy for C.J., and his family," said OU head coach Bob Stoops.  "His family got close to our entire program and we were able to develop a special relationship with them in a short period of time.

"C.J., was a big, physical presence for us off the edge.  He was able to get a lot of pressure on opposing quarterbacks and he was able to do so without losing his containment responsibilities.  He was a smart player that was able to overwhelm a lot of offensive tackles with his strength.  He has a good build from head to toe and is able to generate a lot of drive."

Last season, Ah You was No. 6 on the team with 41 tackles.  He led the squad with four sacks and was No. 3 in tackles for loss with 8.5.

In 2005, Ah You was the consensus Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year after starting all 12 gams.  He finished with 45 tackles, including seven sacks.  At the end of the season he was named the defensive MVP in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl when the Sooners subdued Oregon, 17-14.

Peterson was the first-round pick of the Vikings, while Alexander went in the sixth round.
