NORMAN, Okla. ESPN2 will air the 2007 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Team and All-Around Finals on Tuesday, April 17 at 1 p.m. (CT). Oklahoma fans can watch as junior Taqiy Abdullah-Simmons claims the all-around title and the Sooners take eventual national champion Penn State to the final event. The Nittany Lions edged OU 221.000-220.200 for the team title.
"I was proud of the fight," OU head coach Mark Williams said after the meet. "For all the things my team has been through this year we feel this was still a great success."
Abdullah-Simmons became just the fourth Sooner to be crowned NCAA all-around champion. He joins Bart Conner (1977, 1978), Daniel Furney (2003) and teammate Jonathan Horton (2006). With Abdullah-Simmons and Horton, Oklahoma boasts the last two NCAA champions.
