March 23, 2007 | Track and Field

NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma track and field teams travel northeast on I-44 to kick off their outdoor season at the University of Tulsa Duels on Saturday, March 24.

Most of the Sooners will use the meet as a training session though some of the team's throwers, including 2006 Big 12 javelin champion Cale Drumright, make their 2007 debut.

Both the Sooner men and women are coming off their best indoor campaigns in over a decade and, under second-year head coach Martin Smith, have the full intentions of improving during the outdoor season.

Action at the Hurricane Track and Soccer Complex begins at 9:30 a.m. with the men's javelin throw.  Track events begin at 1:30 p.m.

Oklahoma's next track meet is the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, April 4-7, before hosting the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman, April 13-14.
