NORMAN, Okla. For the third time this season, Oklahoma's Jonathan Horton has been named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week. Horton shared the Feb. 26 award with Nebraska's Jason Wassung.
At the Pacific Coast Classic on Feb. 24, Horton led OU to a first place finish with a season high score of 219.450. The third-ranked Sooners defeated No. 1 Michigan, No. 5 Stanford, No. 6 Illinois, No. 7 California and No. 8 Minnesota.
Horton, a junior, won his third all-around title of 2007 with a season-best 55.95 and also claimed the rings (9.85) and floor exercise (9.8) crowns. He also finished second on high bar (9.5) and tied for third on p-bars (9.3) and was named the Aquafina Gymnast of the Meet.
The Houston, Texas, native is currently ranked first in the nation in the all-around and on floor exercise and is in the top five on parallel bars and high bar.

OU gymnasts have now won six of the eight weekly awards handed out by the MPSF this season. In addition to Horton's three Gymnast of the Week honors, teammates Ian Jackson (Feb. 19), Taqiy Abdullah-Simmons (Feb. 12) and Jacob Messina (Jan. 15) have all earned the weekly award.
Horton will miss the Sooners' March 3 meet with No. 4 Ohio State in Norman to defend his all-around title at the 2007 Tyson American Cup in Jacksonville, Fla. The event will air live on NBC at noon (CST) on Saturday.
