NORMAN, Okla. The fourth-ranked Oklahoma men's gymnastics team took care of business Friday night at the McCasland Field House, rolling over club teams from Texas and the University of Washington. The Sooners won by a commanding 210.500-160.800-98.500 margin in front of 694 fans on Cleveland Elementary Night.
”We were really excited about the crowd we had tonight,” OU head coach Mark Williams said. “With Cleveland Elementary here, I think every kid that came had a good time and they were entertained by the guys. The value of that is tremendous to our program.”
Freshman Ian Jackson claimed the first all-around title of his career, scoring a 49.550 to best Washington's Sean Liner (40.550).
Oklahoma gymnasts recorded the top five scores on every event and had the top three finishers on all six apparatuses.
Juniors Jonathan Horton and Taqiy Abdullah-Simmons, who competed in last weekend's Winter Cup event in Las Vegas, Nev., saw limited action for the Sooners, giving several underclassmen a chance to shine and add some depth to OU's injury-depleted roster.

Sophomore Kyle McNamara accepted the challenge, finishing in the top three on all four events in which in competed. The Littleton, Colo., native also claimed his second event title of the season with a career-high 8.85 on the parallel bars.
”Kyle McNamara is really coming around. I was really pleased with how he did on each of his events. That's a great step for us, giving us a little more depth. I'm excited for the possibility of Kyle making us better once we put the whole team back together and go out to the Pacific Coast Classic next weekend.”
