NORMAN, Okla. -- Three young Oklahoma women's basketball fans were treated to a special behind-the-scenes visit during the team's record-setting victory against Central Arkansas last week.
Kiki Calton of Tishomingo, Ozella Frazier of Oklahoma City and Xander Moore of Lexington, met head women's basketball coach Sherri Coale and the team, toured the Lloyd Noble Center and participated in the Sooners' pre-game warmups and last-minute locker room speech before OU's home game on Dec. 20.
The children came from The Jimmy Everest Cancer Center in Oklahoma City. Their attendance was part of the Oklahoma Athletics Department's participation in Special Spectators, a national non-profit organization that coordinates opportunities for seriously ill children in the community and student-athletes to interact at both hospitals and athletics events.

"It's amazing," said All-American Courtney Paris of the visit. "Here's a group of kids who've fought through more in life than you'll ever know and one of their biggest wishes is to meet us. It means a lot to them to get to know us, but we're the ones who are really changed by the experience.
"Having Kiki, Ozella and Xander in the locker room before the game was a blast. You don't get to have those opportunities very often and those kids are so cool.
"I wish they could come to every game."
Paris isn't alone. Oklahoma fans are likely clamoring for the trio to be a fixture in the stands after the Sooners recorded one of their most lopsided victories in program history.
Special Spectators, in partnership with athletics departments, provides tickets to games and designs days filled with exciting suprises and experiences in and around stadiums that are not accesible to most fans. The design is to provide and fun-filled day for the entire family, but most of all inspire.
Inspire -- On a day when they matched the program record for most points scored in a game, the Oklahoma Sooners women's basketball team can certainly attest to the success of that goal.
