NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma's Curtis Lofton and Duke Robinson have been named consensus All-Americans by the NCAA. The pair accumulated enough points to earn the distinction along with just 26 other players.
Both players are juniors. Lofton, a linebacker, leads Oklahoma with 141 tackles, while Robinson, an offensive guard, helped anchor and line that has permitted just 11 sacks in 13 games.
The 28-man NCAA Consensus All-America Football Team features 14 players on offense and 14 on defense. The players listed had the majority of votes competing against players at that position only.
The points system was used for the selections of the All-America team (three points for first team, two points for second team and one point for third team). Eight players were unanimous choices by the five organizations used in the consensus chart -- American Football Coaches Association (First Team), Associated Press (First, Second and Third Teams), Football Writers Association of America (First Team), The Sporting News (First and Second Teams) and Walter Camp Foundation (First and Second Teams).
