Nineteen Sooners Honored by Big 12

NORMAN, Okla. -- A total of 19 Oklahoma Sooners were honored on the 2007 Big 12 Football Team that was announced Tuesday. The team was selected by the conference's coaches.

Oklahoma placed six on the first team, six on the second team and had seven named honorable mention. In addition, Gerald McCoy was named the league's defensive freshman of the year.

OU's first team picks included Brody Eldridge at fullback, Duke Robinson on the offensive line, Auston English on the defensive line, Curtis Lofton at linebacker and Nic Harris and Reggie Smith in the defensive backfield.

The second team selections from Oklahoma included Malcolm Kelly at wide receiver, Phil Loadholt and Brandon Walker on the offensive line, kicker Garrett Hartley, defensive lineman DeMarcus Granger and defensive back D.J. Wolfe.

The honorable mention Sooners were LB Lewis Baker, QB Sam Bradford, TE Joe Jon Finley, TE Jermaine Gresham, WR Juaquin Iglesias, McCoy and RB DeMarco Murray.

Only four of OU's honorees -- Hartley, Wolfe, Baker and Finley -- are seniors.

Oklahoma had the most first team selections. Missouri was next with five followed by Kansas with four.

The Sooners are back in action Saturday at San Antonio. OU and the Missouri Tigers will meet to decide the Big 12 Championship. The game will be televised nationally by ABC. Please visit Big 12 Championship Central for complete information on the game.
