OKLAHOMA HEAD COACH BOB STOOPS |
Opening Comments:
"I give Texas Tech a lot of credit. Mike
[Leach] and his staff did and excellent job and they
played well. In the first half, I thought we really
played foolishly and poorly in a lot of areas. To come
out and start the game really well defensively, we
got a huge play, then we get a three-and-out, and we
get the ball at the 45-yard-line and we go out on the
first play of the game, and we can't hand the ball
off. That's just bad football, and then we get our
quarterback knocked out of the game trying to tackle
the guy after he picked the ball up.
"Then we got all
kinds of personal fouls and penalties, just bad football,
and you can't play like that and win on the road, or
even at home. I felt we kind of played one-handed in
the first half, meaning that our offense wasn't doing
anything. When you continue to give them all that possession
time or all of those opportunities, you can't do that
with Tech the way they move the ball. You've got to
play like we did in the second half where you're moving
it as well, eating up some clock and changing the field
position. I just felt that in the first half, we didn't
play that well as a team that way.
"I appreciate everybody's
effort in the second half, we fought to the end and
there's character there, and they went all the way
through."
On the number of injuries his team suffered tonight:
"Sam [Bradford] was making the tackle there and
got dinged. How serious it is, we'll just have to continue
to see, but it was whatever form of concussion, so
we weren't going to put him back out there. Adron Tennell
tore an anterior cruciate, Alan Davis had a concussion,
and DeMarco's [Murray] knee cap shifted there. He was
trying to plant to go up for the onside kick and his
knee got caught one way or the other. All of them are
significant and we'll see when we get into the week
how they all come out."
On Bradford playing another series after suffering
the concussion:
"That's when we realized it, because he didn't
say anything before that and that's when we realized
it. I'm not sure whether it was a trainer or one of
the players who said, 'Wait a second, he's not where
he needs to be,' That's when they grabbed him and looked
at him."
On the play of back-up quarterback Joey Halzle:
"I thought that for the limited snaps-he's been
very limited in games, even in practice, two's don't
really get the snaps that the one's do-I thought Joey
did a really good job. Again, for the really limited
time that he has had, he stepped up for the most part,
really hung in there and fought to the end. I'm sure
there's some plays there that he'll see that he can
be better at, but for the time he's had through 10
games, I thought he stepped up and did some decent
things."

On going into the game:
"Coach Hueppel always tells us to make sure we're
prepared, you never know when you are going to be called
on, to prepare every week like we are starters. Unfortunately
Sam had to go down, and he is a real good player and
we all know that, and I just tried to come in and help
the team as much as I could."
On finding a rhythm:
"You just get settled in and getting into a rhythm,
start seeing the defense slow a little bit, and try
to make bigger plays down the field."

TEXAS TECH HEAD COACH MIKE LEACH |
Is this the best the defense has played?
I think they played really well. It's a lot like we've
been saying from the beginning, once Ruffin (McNeal)
took over the defense I can only think of one bad outing.
I think those defensive coaches have done a tremendous
job rallying this group.
How big was it this game to jump out to an early
lead?
I thought it was the ultimate team effort. There were
huge contributions by defense, huge contributions by
special teams and huge contributions by offense. I
think it was a game won together. I thought this day
that the Tech defense was the biggest factor in this
game.
Talk about the intensity of the fans tonight:
The fans were awsesome. The tent village was awesome.
I loved every bit of that. Our fans were excellent.
This is the best place to play in college football.
As you walked into our stadium, you could feel it.
You could see as you were pulling into the parking
lot. The place was packed. The people were loud and
they roared like crazy. The thing I've always liked
about this place is you've got the great college atmosphere,
but you've also got the NFL flavor with some characters
mixed in.
Calculate how big of a win could this be for
the program:
I think it's huge. It beats the heck out of losing.

TEXAS TECH QB GRAHAM HARRELL |
On if game is biggest win of his career:
"It's got to be one of them. The last time we
beat OU was a pretty big win. This is probably the
biggest win I've ever played in. It's a game that we
can build on, and hopefully we will do that, as a team,
as a program, and for years to come. We can build on
this win because it is a big win for those guys in
there today. (It's a) big one for the seniors being
their last home game today. Like I said, it's a big
win."

TEXAS TECH WR MICHAEL CRABTREE |
On the Oklahoma secondary:
"I just think they were in zone the whole time.
We did a good job executing on our plays. In the second
half we didn't score and put up any numbers, so I was
a little disappointed about that, but we did our job
and came out with a 'W'."
