NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Freshman Blake Griffin scored 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as Oklahoma matched its highest scoring output under Jeff Capel in a 99-59 win against Alcorn State on Monday night.

The Sooners (3-0) started the second half on a 26-6 run, capped by freshman Cade Davis' right-handed dunk in transition, and shot 62 percent after halftime to equal its point total in a 99-36 win against Norfolk State in Capel's debut last season.

Longar Longar added 20 points off the bench, Tony Crocker scored 16 and Omar Leary had 11 for Oklahoma, which outscored Alcorn State (0-2) 50-22 in the paint.

Next up for Oklahoma is a matchup of fabulous freshmen, with the 6-foot-10 Griffin facing off against fellow McDonald's All-American Derrick Rose and No. 3 Memphis on Thursday night in the semifinals of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic at Madison Square Garden.

Griffin has averaged 17.6 points and nine rebounds in his first three games. Rose, a point guard who's already drawing attention from NBA scouts, averaged 19 points in Memphis' first two games.

Richard Griffin hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead Alcorn State, which opens its season with five straight road games and 12 of 14 on the road.

Three of Richard Griffin's 3-pointers came in a 2-minute stretch in the first half to pull the Braves within 27-23.

Oklahoma responded with an 11-0 run that featured a pair of layups by Blake Griffin, and the lead was 38-23 after David Godbold's 3-pointer from the right wing with 4 minutes left in the first half. The Sooners led 50-33 at halftime after Austin Johnson's driving layup was blocked and Longar put it back.
