NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team picked up its second tournament victory of the fall on Wednesday with a score of 297 in the final round of the 16-team Price's "Give `Em Five" Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M, the team's final event of the fall season. The Sooners finished with a convincing four-stroke victory over Idaho with a three-round total of 902 (+38) at the 6,319-yard, par-72 New Mexico State University Golf Course.

The Sooners' victory is the 37th tournament championship in Oklahoma women's golf team history, and the 28th under head coach Carol Ludvigson.

"I am very happy about the win," Ludvigson said. "We look forward to working hard in the offseason to get even better. This team is good and has the ability to be very good."

Senior Kelly Jacques continued her solid play with a tie for fourth place. She shot a final round 73 (+1) to secure her first top-five finish of the season. She finished no lower than 12th in the team's four fall tournaments.

"Kelly has been very consistent," Ludvigson said. "Her ball-striking is very solid, and she has really become stronger on her putting as well. Because of this she can make many more birdie putts."

Jacques, with a total score of 222 (+6), finished three strokes behind the individual champion, Chelsea Stelzmiller of UC Davis. Second-place finisher Bryana Gregory of UC-Davis and Idaho's Kelly Nakashima (third place) were the only two other golfers with better scores than Jacques.

OU junior Kendall Dye stayed consistent, carding a three-round total of 225 (+9) to finish in a tie for 13th place. Freshman Ellen Mueller completed her fall season, one in which she finished no lower than 24th, with a tie for 19th at 228 (+12).

Senior Heather Wright tied for 38th at 233 (+17) and sophomore Chelsey Collins completed the Sooner scoring with a total score of 237 (+21), good for a tie for 54th.

Oklahoma finished five shots ahead of third-place UC-Davis and six ahead of Kansas, North Carolina State and Michigan. Seventh-place Missouri finished 11 strokes behind the Sooners.

The Price's "Give 'Em Five" Intercollegiate completes OU's 2007 fall schedule. The Sooners finished first, second, fourth and first in their four events.

The Sooners hit the links again in the spring as they head to Parrish, Fla., Feb. 18-19 for the Central District Invitational, hosted by Michigan State University.
