NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's golf team stands three strokes behind leader North Carolina State going into the final round of the 16-team Price's "Give `Em Five" Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M. The Sooners carded a second-round score of 305, giving them a 36-hole total of 605 (+29).

The Sooners are in fifth place at the 6,319-yard, par-72 New Mexico State University Golf Course, a shot behind fourth-place Kansas (604) and two back of Idaho and Michigan (603), who are tied for second.

"We are excited about tomorrow and feel like we are due for a low score since we feel like we have played mediocre so far," OU head coach Carol Ludvigson said. "Our ball-striking was good, but we need to make a few more putts to win. Tomorrow the prospects of winning look good, but it will take a team effort."

Senior Kelly Jacques, who has finished no lower than 12th in OU's first three fall tournaments, stands in that exact position of 12th after shooting a second-round score of 76 (+4). She trails individual leader Lene Hafsten-Morch of Baylor by five shots through two rounds.

OU junior Kendall Dye, who has averaged 76 over 10 fall rounds, shot her average on Tuesday to stand in a tie for 16th at 151 (+7).

Senior Heather Wright is tied for 24th after her second-consecutive round of 76, and freshman Ellen Mueller sits just a stroke behind Wright, tied for 28th at 153 (+9). Sophomore Chelsey Collins is in a tie for 69th at 162 (+18).

Oklahoma is three shots ahead of a three-way tie for sixth between Baylor, Missouri and UC-Davis, and 10 strokes clear of ninth-place North Texas.

Wednesday's final round will begin at 8 a.m. MDT.

The Price's "Give 'Em Five" Intercollegiate is OU's final 2007 fall tournament.  The Sooners finished first, second and fourth in their first three events.
