Diamond Dinner Set for Jan. 26

NORMAN, Okla. -- Former Oklahoma baseball greats and current Major League Baseball players will return to Oklahoma to help the Sooners kick off the 2007 season at the Diamond Dinner on Friday, Jan. 26.
Current Oklahoma players and coaches will also be in attendance to join the former OU greats for an autograph session.
The annual benefit dinner, which is open to the public, will be held this year at the Student Union Ballroom on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. The dinner is set to begin at 7 p.m. with Geoff Geary (Philadelphia Phillies), L. Dale Mitchell and Eddie Fisher serving as the night's honorees.
The cost to attend is $25 per person and reservations may be made by contacting the Oklahoma baseball office at (405) 325-8354.
For the first time, the program will be holding an auction with various OU memorabilia available. A live and silent auction will be held and a complete list of the items can be found by clicking here.
Among the other former Oklahoma greats scheduled to be in attendance include: Jeff Bajenaru, Kyle Denney, Rich Hills, Damon Minor, Ryan Minor, Russ Ortiz and Mark Redman.
The University of Oklahoma Home Run Club is once again the official presenter of the event. Those interested in joining the Oklahoma baseball team's official support group can do so at the banquet, or by contacting the Oklahoma baseball office, with a donation of $50.

OU opens its season on the road at the UTPA Tournament in Edinburg, Texas against Texas State on Friday, February 2. The Sooners' home opener is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. against Western Illinois. The game will be the first of a three-game series against the Leathernecks.
OU has 28 games slated at L. Dale Mitchell Park in 2007. The Sooners host Western Illinois, Wichita State, UC Riverside, Creighton, UTPA, Michigan State, TCU and Dallas Baptist in non-conference play.
In the Big 12, OU's schedule will feature home games against Texas A&M (March 23-25). Nebraska (April 13-15), Kansas (April 27-29) and Texas Tech (May 18-20).
