Freshman OL Curtis Bailey

NORMAN, Okla. -- Freshman lineman Curtis Bailey and the Sooner football team continue preseason practice in Norman on Wednesday.

Bailey, a 6-6, 317-pound offensive tackle, wears No. 60 for Oklahoma. He played at Carter High School in Dallas where he earned first-team all-state, all-area and all-district honors as a senior.

That high school should sound familiar. Dallas-Carter was the team that defeated the Permian Panthers in the book and subsequent movie Friday Night Lights.

An interesting note: the movie depicts the teams playing in the Texas high school football championship game. In reality, the 1988 Permian High School Panthers lost to Dallas-Carter in the state semi-finals, not the state finals. Carter did however go on to win the state title.

Bailey benches 375 and squats 475 pounds. He's been clocked at 5.2 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

SoonerSports.com caught up with Bailey after practice and learned a few interesting facts about this promising freshman.
