Bowls and BCS for Big 12 Teams

NORMAN, Okla. -- The NCAA released its official slate of bowl games for 2006-07. The Big 12 Conference has tie-ins with seven bowls and the BCS.
If the Big 12 Conference champion does not participate in the BCS National Championship Game, the team will serve as the host team in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on January 1 in Phoenix, Ariz.
The Big 12 leads all conferences with five appearances in the BCS National Championship game and was the only conference to place two teams in the Top 6 of both the final Associated Press and Coaches polls from 2001-04.
With a 5-3 record in the postseason, the Big 12 Conference tied for the most wins with the ACC and was one of two conferences to post a winning record in bowl games last season. Including 2005, the Big 12 has sent eight teams to bowls in four of the last five seasons.
Bowl Championship Series
When not having a conference champion participating in the BCS National Championship, the following conference champions serve as host teams: Rose Bowl - Big Ten & Pac-10; FedEx Orange Bowl - ACC; Allstate Sugar Bowl - SEC; Tostitos Fiesta Bowl - Big 12.
In April, the NCAA approved a fifth Bowl Championship Series game, which will be played in Phoenix, Ariz., along with the International Bowl in Toronto, the Birmingham Bowl and the New Mexico Bowl.
