Restrepo Coaching USA Select Team

NORMAN, Okla. -- For the second straight summer, Oklahoma volleyball coach Santiago Restrepo will be traveling to Argentina to coach the under-22 USA Select Teams comprised of NCAA collegeiate volleyball players. Restrepo will team with Florida head coach Nick Cheronis to lead the USA Select “A” team.

Additionally, there will be a USA Select All-Freshmen team coached by Reed Sunahara (Cincinnati) and Geoff Carlston (Ohio). The two squads will travel Buenos Aires and the surrounding cities June 1-June 10, visiting Mendoza, Freyre, Cordoba, Nogoya, Entre Rios, Villaguay, Diamante and Ramallo. The two squads will open competition on Thursday and compete for eight straight days against Argentine competition.

The USA Select Teams consist of 23 players from Cincinnati, Colorado State, Dayton, Georgia, Georgia State, Florida, Louisiana State, Michigan, Nevada, Pepperdine, San Francisco, St. Mary's, Tennessee Tech, Utah and Virgina Tech.

Last summer, senior Joanna Schmitt joined Restrepo in Argentina and was one of two players representing the Big 12 Conference.

Bring It Promotions, a tour agency, is sponsoring the USA Select Teams and was asked by the Argentine Federation to bring a group of strong collegiate players to Buenos Aires to help prepare their ARG National Team and Junior National Team for their summer competition schedule.
