Susie Maxwell Update, Sooners Tied For Seventh

NORMAN, Okla. After round one of the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic, the Oklahoma women's golf team is tied for seventh place with a 306 (+18). The Sooners are 22 strokes behind leader Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls shot a 283 (-5), one stroke shy of the single-round tournament record.
Oklahoma State's Jennifer Karr and UTEP's Amy Young are tied for the lead after each fired a first-round 69 (-3).
Sophomore Heather Wright set a career low with a first-round 74 (+2) and is tied for 15th place. True freshman Kendall Dye is one stroke behind with a 75 (+3), tied for 22nd. Redshirt freshman Staci Smoot and junior Megan Goodwin, who are competing individually, both shot a 76 (+4) in round one and are tied for 34th. After posting a 77 (+5), sophomore Kelly Jacques is tied for 44th. Redshirt freshman Sydney Lee, who is competing in her first collegiate tournament, is tied for 47th after recording a 78 (+6). Lone senior Amparo Gala carded an 80 (+8) in the first round for a tie for 60th place. With a first-round 84 (+12), junior Jaclyn Stelzer is in 88th place and junior Charli Bullard is in 90th place after recording an 86 (+14).
Sunday's second round is expected to end at approximately 6 p.m. CDT. Monday's final round will begin at 8 a.m.
