NORMAN, Okla. -- The third round was a busy one for the Oklahoma Sooners in Saturday's first day of the 2006 NFL Draft. DT Dusty Dvoracek, WR Travis Wilson and LB Clint Ingram all heard their names called during the round to run OU's first-day total to five.
Dvoracek was the 73rd pick overall when the Chicago Bears called his name thus reuniting him with former OU teammates Tommie Harris, a defensive tackle, and Mark Bradley, a wide receiver.
Wilson went just five picks later when he was the 78th pick overall and the third-round pick for the Cleveland Browns thus reuniting him with a pair of former teammates and defensive backs Antoinio Perkins and Brodney Pool.
Ingram then became the first Sooner ever drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars when they took him with the 80th pick overall.
OG Davin Joseph went in the first round to Tampa Bay and C Chris Chester went to Baltimore in the second.
Dvoracek had a stellar year with a team-leading 18 tackles for loss. That ran his career total to 44 to equal the fifth-best number in school history. In addition to his stellar play, Dvoracek was a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.
Wilson, despite spending three of his four seasons opposite all-time leading OU receiver Mark Clayton, finished with 17 career touchdown receptions, the second highest total in school history. He finished with 104 receptions and 1,300 career receiving yards.
Ingram, called a "ball magnet" by OU head coach Bob Stoops, led the 2005 Sooners with five interceptions. His late in the Holiday Bowl halted an Oregon drive deep in Oklahoma territory and preserved a 17-14 win over the No. 6-ranked Ducks.
With five players taken thus far, this already ranks as the second-best draft for Oklahoma under Bob Stoops. It is exceeded only by the 10 that were taken last year.
Ingram's 61 tackles ranked fourth on the OU team despite the fact that he missed the UCLA game with a minior hamstring injury. Twelve of his stops for the season were for 43 negative yardage. His five interceptions resulted in 63 return yards including a 48-yarder for a touchdown against Tulsa.
