Coach Williams to Throw First Pitch

April 21, 2006 | Men's Gymnastics

NORMAN, Okla. -- After guiding his team to its fourth national title in five years, OU men's gymnastics head coach Mark Williams will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Triple-A Oklahoma City Redhawks game on Sunday, April 23 at 2:05 p.m.

The Redhawks are scheduled to face the Nashville Sounds.

“It's a great honor to be allowed to throw out the first pitch for a championship-caliber organization like the Redhawks,” said Williams. “I'm excited to be recognized for the team's accomplishments and hope that I can get the ball over the plate.”

Sunday's pitching appearance will be Williams' third career visit to the mound as he threw out the first pitch in this year's OU-Texas game and last year's OU-Nebraska game.

Williams has picked up two strikes in his career while holding down an ERA of 0.00.
