Golfers Finish First Round in N.M.

NORMAN, Okla. The Oklahoma women's golf team carded a 328 (+40) and dropped to a tie for 14th place after Saturday's second round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga.  The Sooners have a two-round total of 647 (+71) and are 44 strokes behind leader Georgia.

Sophomore Heather Wright led the Sooners after yesterday's first round and continues to do so today but has dropped to a tie for 40th place.  Wright shot a second-round 82 (+10), giving her a total score of 158 (+14).  Junior Jaclyn Stelzer is tied for 60th after carding an 82 (+10), bringing her to a 163 (+19) total.  True freshman Kendall Dye and sophomore Kelly Jacques are tied for 65th place with two-round totals of 164 (+20).   In the second round Dye posted an 83 (+11) and Jacques fired an 81 (+9).  After shooting an 84 (+12), sophomore Heather Wright is tied for 72nd place with a 165 (+21).

The tournament is being played at the 6,228-yard, par-72 University of Georgia Golf Course.  Tthe final round will begin tomorrow at 9 a.m.
