Sooners in 12th place in Austin

NORMAN, Okla. After one round at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, the Oklahoma women's golf team is in 12^th place with a 319 (+31). The Sooners are trailing leader Texas A&M by 21 strokes.

Lone senior Amparo Gala and true freshman Kendall Dye are tied for 36^th place with a one-round score of 79 (+7). Sophomore Heather Wright finished the day tied for 44^th place with an 80 (+8). After shooting an 81 (+9), junior Jaclyn Stelzer is tied for 59^th place while sophomore Kelly Jacques posted an 82 (+10), good for a 63^rd place tie. Redshirt freshman Staci Smoot, who is competing as an individual, carded an 85 (+13) in the first round to finish the day tied for 76^th place.

The 15-team field includes six other Big 12 schools and four ranked teams. The tournament is hosted by the University of Texas and is being played at the 7,154-yard, par-72 University of Texas Golf Club. The second round will be played tomorrow with the final round being played on Sunday.
