Men's Tennis Loses to Alabama, 5-2

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. The Oklahoma men's tennis team falls to 3-3 on the season after dropping a 5-2 decision to Alabama on Friday at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility in Tuscaloosa.
The No. 47 Sooners won the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 2 spots. Junior Marek Velicka and senior Alexei Ivanov, ranked No. 20 in the country, defeated Javier Bes and Joseph Jung, 8-3. Sophomore Federico Chavarria and senior Tommy Garrison also recorded an 8-3 victory over Sammy Struyf and Mathieu Thibaudeau.
In singles, Alabama took wins in five of the six matches. Velicka fell to No. 100 Jung in a close match, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4. Ivanov also suffered a tough loss to Thibaudeau, 7-6, 2-6, 6-2. In the last match of the night, freshman Cale Planck dealt Dan Buikema a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 loss at No. 6 singles to put the score at 5-2.
The Sooners will face No. 26 Auburn on the road on Sunday in a match set for 10 a.m.
