SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Oklahoma and Boise State fans descended on the Phoenix area Sunday in advance of the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

As the festivities ramped up surrounding the BCS matchup, the OU football team dialed back its schedule. The Sooners conducted meetings in the morning and then held a walkthrough at Pinnacle High School Sunday afternoon. Lunch was served at the facility.

The players will enjoy a team dinner on the property this evening and then retire to their rooms. New Year's Eve festivities will be subdued with an 11:30 p.m. curfew the night before the game.

COACHES MEET MEDIA
Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops and Boise State counterpart Chris Petersen addressed the media Sunday morning for the final time before taking the field against each other in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Stoops was first to participate in the 30-minute question-and-answer session and met with Petersen briefly afterwards for a photo opportunity in which both coaches posed with the Fiesta Bowl trophy.

The Sooners' head coach stressed the importance of ending the season on a positive note.

“You know, there's a part of the season that's incredibly special,” Stoops said. “Being Big 12 champions is where we begin in our program. That part of it is finished and accomplished.

"In the end, this season, for these seniors, for this group of players, for this team, has one more game. They've been on a good run. They want it to continue. It's important for all of us.”

Petersen acknowledged that his team is prepared for the challenge ahead of them.

“You could feel it yesterday, the energy level is good,” Petersen said.

“They're anxious to play. It reminds me a little bit of the start of the season when you get ready to play your first game, as a coach you're kind of going, We could probably use a little bit more practice just to iron out a couple more things.' But, really, it's not going to help you because you just need to go play.”
