SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. Oklahoma completed its fourth practice Friday at Pinnacle High School in preparation for the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Day.
The Sooners appeared loose in what was scheduled as a routine Wednesday practice for an OU game week. The Sooners worked on all phases of special teams before taking to separate fields for offense and defensive work against the scout teams.
Towards the end of the practice session, tight end Jermaine Gresham drew cheers from teammates on the main field by dunking a touchdown reception over the crossbar in stride.
The 6-7 freshman was upstaged a few plays later when 6-4 wide receiver Malcolm Kelly caught a pass for a TD and executed a perfect through-the-legs dunk.
OU head coach Bob Stoops was pleased with his team's performance and addressed how the running backs would factor into the bowl game.
“We're going to use them like we have all year,” Stoops said. “You never know how the game will go. We do what we feel we need to do.
"(Adrian Peterson) is capable of getting the majority of carries, but he doesn't have to. The other running backs have shown they are more than capable of handling the load.
“Allen (Patrick) is a talented, strong guy, as is Chris (Brown). And Jacob (Gutierrez) has complimented all those guys when he has had to.”
Earlier in the day, Sooner defensive players and staff met with the press at the Camelback Inn. Read quotes
