Reaction to 26-10 Win at Missouri

NORMAN | One of the most interesting things to do after watching a Sooner game is to compare your opinion against the media. TV, radio, newspapers, internet -- it's amazing how many people make their living on post-game analysis.

Here's a chance to look at the game from a different perspective.

SoonerSports.com presents links to analysis, reaction and opinion from the national media and the opposing team. Much like our "Eye on the Opponent" series, this is a chance to catch a few things you might have missed...

All that was missing were the slapstick sound effects. Or maybe they were just drowned out by the few thousand Oklahoma fans who outroared some 60,000 MU fans most of the day as the Sooners crunched MU 26-10. The better team won, but MU gave itself no chance with its bungling...

Missouri defensive end Xzavie Jackson probably summed up Saturday better than anyone. “The University of Missouri always beats itself,” Jackson said after the No. 23 Tigers fell to No. 19 Oklahoma 26-10. Missouri fumbled three times. Chase Daniel threw three interceptions...

Make no mistake, sloppy and stupid is no way to win a ballgame. And that should anger the Tigers. But what should concern them even more is that aside from all those mental mistakes, they were physically manhandled by the Sooners. Missouri played like a finesse team...

"They're a great team and we handed it to them today," Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel said. "They deserved to win. I don't question our effort whatsoever because we played our hearts out. It's hard to win when you have four turnovers and we almost had five."

The Tigers made huge mistakes, and the Sooners capitalized on just about all of them; and two, the Sooners' offensive line, a liability last year and a question mark at the beginning of this year, is becoming a force. Keep an eye on sophomore guard George Robinson (6-5, 332)...

A gorgeous autumn day that was supposed to celebrate Missouri's breakthrough against a flawed but still potent Oklahoma team turned into a blooper reel for the Tigers. In front of a sun-splashed crowd of 62,045 - half of whom were probably still buzzing from Friday's...

While Missouri made mistakes precisely when momentum was flowing to the Black and Gold, the Sooners elevated their level of play when placed under the gun. When given a get-out-of-jail-free card in the form of a roughing the punter penalty that should have...

The Missouri offense was put on the shoulders of quarterback Chase Daniel on Saturday, and the Oklahoma defense made sure it was an unpleasant weight to carry. Leading rusher Tony Temple sustained a shoulder injury in the first quarter of the Sooners' 26-10 victory...

The plan worked early in the third quarter, with Missouri cranking up the tempo on its no-huddle attack and catching Oklahoma standing around when the ball was snapped with 22 or 23 seconds remaining on the play clock. Daniel crashed into the end zone on a...

Hey, it was just a little toe tap. But when MU safety William Moore rolled into the heel of the Oklahoma punter midway through the third quarter in the end zone, MU took a real shot to the gut in the form of a personal-foul call. Given a second chance, the Sooners...

But Oklahoma also has been a lot better than what most expected when Stoops booted starting quarterback Rhett Bomar off the team in August for taking money for work he didn't do. That was supposed to doom the Sooners to pulling out victories like last year's...

For now, the ball will go to Patrick, a converted defensive back with unusual stamina. Even after carrying 23 times after halftime, Patrick said he did not tire late. He could not say the same, however, for Missouri's defense. "I saw a lot of players huffing and puffing," Patrick...

All 26 points Oklahoma scored were a product of breakdowns. The term Missouri beating Missouri barely begins to describe the Tigers' meltdown on national television. The errors short-circuited what might have been an evenly matched game that the Tigers...

With a rugged running game and an opportunistic defense, the Sooners coach played it straight, running right at the Tigers, usually behind the right side of a line that's anchored by true freshman tackle Trent Williams, a first-time starter. The only fourth-down conversion...

After halting Missouri's eight-game home winning streak, Oklahoma has now stopped two significant winning streaks in Missouri history. Oklahoma stopped the Tigers' longest winning streak, 20 games, in 1943. ... Oklahoma has allowed just 50 points in its last five games...

Back from the dead, or at least from a long nap: Oklahoma is playing some of its best football without Adrian Peterson. The other A.P., Allen Patrick, had his second effective game in a 26-10 victory at Missouri. The Sooners are 6-2, and 10-2 looks possible with games...

Bob Stoops is one of the best coaches not only in the Big 12, but also in the country. He has held the Sooners together this year despite all the setbacks with injuries and they will be a top tier bowl team when it's all said and done. He outcoached Gary Pinkel the last time he...
