Sooners in Sixth Place at Mary Fossum Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. - After shooting a 609 (+33) in the first two rounds of play Saturday, the Oklahoma women's golf team is in sixth place at the Mary Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich. The Sooners trail first-place Michigan State by 15 strokes.
Two Sooners are in the top 20 with one round remaining. True freshman Kendall Dye is proving that she is getting the swing of things after turning in rounds of 76 and 72 for a 148 (+4). Dye is tied for sixth place and is currently two strokes behind leader Jennifer Hong (Northwestern University). Sophomore Kelly Jacques is tied for 15th place after shooting 77 and 73 for a 150 (+6). Jacques posted a career-best seventh place finish at last week's Badger Invitational.
Redshirt freshman Staci Smoot is tied for 31st after carding a 154 (+10). Sophomore Heather Wright is holding a 157 (+13) and is tied for 45th. After a career-best 14th place finish at last week's Badger Invitational, junior Jaclyn Stelzer is tied for 56th with a 160 (+16). Junior Megan Goodwin, who is competing individually, is tied for 60th place after shooting a 161 (+17).
Oklahoma is one of two Big 12 teams making up the 15-field team that is playing the 6,099-yard, par-72 Forest Akers West Golf Course. Iowa State stands in 11th place with a 623 (+47).
The Mary Fossum Invitational's third and final round will begin Sunday morning.
