Sooners in Summer Baseball Leagues No. 2

NORMAN, Okla. -- As part of continuing coverage of Oklahoma baseball throughout the summer, SoonerSports.com will bring fans weekly updates of current Sooners competing in the numerous summer baseball leagues around the country.
This week is the second installment and after four weeks of competition, slugger Joe Dunigan of the Dupage Dragons (Central Illinois Collegiate League) continues to put together solid numbers at the plate. Dunigan has started 23 of the team's possible 24 games, and leads Dupage in home runs (3), total bases (37), stolen bases (7) and doubles (9). Dunigan will be one of eight competitors in the Dinger Bats Homerun Derby prior to the start of Wednesday's CICL All-Star game.
Kody Kaiser and Jackson Williams are competing in the Cape Cod Baseball League along with Daniel McCutchen on the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. Will Savage is also competing in the Cape Cod Baseball League on the Brewster Whitecaps.
Brent Hodge, Jarod Freeman, and Scott Rooker are playing in the Texas Baseball League for the Highland Park Blue Sox.
Russell Raley is also playing in the Texas Baseball League, on the Graham Roughnecks, but is currently inactive with the same stress fracture that forced him to miss the Sooners' 2005 postseason run. The Roughnecks are in first place of the Rogers Hornsby Division.
In the Alaska Baseball League, Kevin Duke is pitching for the Mat-Su Miners.
Others participating in summer leagues include:
Chad Lembeck and Blake Mitchell (San Diego Mavericks) and P.J. Sandoval (Southern California Fire) of the Southern California Baseball League.
Several former Sooners are also playing in the Major League Baseball League and its minor league affiliates. Most recently, Geoff Geary (1997-98), pitched 4.2 innings of scoreless relief last week. Geary appeared against Pittsburgh and Washington in those two appearances in which he allowed three hits and recorded five strikeouts in the no-decisions.
